Scholarships

Troop 55 has scholarship funds available to assist scouts with the cost of summer camps, especially merit badge camps and leadership camps.  The troop has activities each year whereby scouts can earn funds for summer camp, and these include selling Scout Fair tickets.  The receipt of financial assistance for summer camp is often conditioned on the scout earning a portion of the camp fee himself.  To apply for financial assistance, please see instructions at this link.

For leadership camps (NYLT and NAYLE), Troop 55 will reimbursement the camp fee upon request after completion of the course.  This reimbursement is for the course fee only and does not include transportation expenses.

General policy for summer camps in future years:
• Troop 55 usually arranges three levels of camps in June, and three levels of camps in July/August.  The three levels are:
(a) merit badge camp (open to all scouts),
(b) mid-level adventure camp (targeted to scouts who are 12-14), and
(c) high adventure camp (usually restricted to scouts who are 14 & over)
• The camps are usually selected in September and October for the following year.
• Suggestions are welcome and should be sent to Bob Casey or Karl Poirot.
